The coolest outfits you can rock at a concert, all inspired by music and other cultures

Changing up your usual gig attire for something a little more Halloween-appropriate is a fun way to celebrate the season.

Although the bigger and more elaborate your outfit, the better, you should still be considerate of your fellow concertgoers. In order to ensure that your fun does not interfere with anyone else’s, you should avoid anything with wings or that is too tall. You shouldn’t bring anything too big unless you want to spend the whole show sitting on the bar.

However, there are still many costume choices available for Halloween concerts. Here are some of our recommendations.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Both people who want to go all out for Halloween and those who prefer to keep things simple may find something to relate to in this famous musical, as Phoebe Bridgers and Danny Elfman demonstrated in an interview with NME before their performance at London’s Wembley Arena last year. To look like Jack Skellington, you need only wear a pinstripe suit, while Sally will require a lot of face and body paint and a patchwork outfit.

Skeleton

In reference to Phoebe Bridgers, the skeleton onesie she wore to the vast majority of her concerts has become practically synonymous with the indie musician herself. It has now risen to prominence as a popular option among trendy Halloween outfits.

The Bear

The Bear, a popular television series, accurately depicted chefs’ stress, tension, and hostility on the job. A tight white t-shirt and a blue apron are all that are needed to duplicate Carmy’s characteristic style, making the task much less daunting. However, you should probably forget the chef’s knife at home.

The Avengers

Fancy dressers have had a vast new source of inspiration ever since the 2008 debut of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, thanks to Marvel’s blockbuster films and the Disney+ TV episodes that accompany them. We’re not sure how going topless and painted green would go down with your fellow gig-goer if you want to spend this halloween as The Hulk while Iron Man’s tech-heavy armour might be a bit difficult to imitate but the likes of Dr. Strange, Scarlet Witch and Loki should be easy enough. But if you want to keep things easy, you can always just pretend to be Peter Parker while wearing your own clothes.

Madonna

Madonna’s long-awaited “The Celebration” tour began earlier this month, and it’s all about celebrating her great clothing and outstanding discography. The cone-shaped bra is maybe not the ideal choice for a sweaty punk rock event, but Madonna’s nine costume changes on the ‘Celebration’ tour should provide plenty of ideas if you want to pay tribute to the Queen of Pop this Halloween.

It’s time for some nostalgia

What better moment to revisit some of the most absurd outfits from the early ’00s than 2023, with the current rebirth of pop-punk, emo, and nu-metal changing the rock world. You may easily mimic Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst by donning a red cap and baggy trousers, while a backwards cap, some checkered shorts, and a pair of vans will make you look like the members of any number of pop-punk bands. You can look like either My Chemical Romance from their Black Parade era or The Libertines with a military jacket; just leave the frosted tips at home.
